About Taxi Butler

Find answers to the most common questions about what Taxi Butler is and how it works.

Taxi Butler is a simple taxi booking device that taxi fleets place inside local venues like hotels, bars and restaurants, letting people inside venues book taxis in just an instant.

Taxi Butler provides taxi companies with a unified suite of taxi booking hardware and software for automating taxi bookings inside local venues and businesses like hotels, hospitals, bars, restaurants, supermarkets, casinos, offices and more. Staff and guests inside venues can book a taxi easily, quickly and transparently.

Devices connect directly to the taxi company’s dispatch system. When a booking is placed on the device, it goes to the taxi company instantly. The screen confirms the booking, shows the taxi’s ETA and signals when the driver has arrived.

  • Taxi Butler ONE is the original one-click booking device. A compact, staff-operated unit with a 3-inch screen and a built-in 4G SIM and data plan. One press dispatches a taxi directly into the connected dispatch system. Best for high-volume, staff-operated locations: hotel receptions, hospital discharge desks, bar and restaurant counters.
  • Taxi Butler PLUS is a 6-inch handheld touchscreen device designed for concierge-focused venues. Runs on battery or mains power and connects via 4G or Wi-Fi. Staff can select vehicle types, set pickup times, print tickets and manage all active bookings from the screen. After booking, guests receive a QR code to track their taxi in real time. Best for upscale hotels, concierge desks and venues where guest-facing presentation matters.
  • Taxi Butler KIOSK is a freestanding, self-service unit with a 21.5-inch touchscreen that guests operate themselves. Mains-powered and connecting via 4G, Wi-Fi or Ethernet. Best for high-traffic locations where guests book independently: airport terminals, hotel lobbies, hospital waiting areas.
  • Taxi Butler PAY is a built-in payment system for the PLUS and KIOSK, enabling guests to pay by card directly on the device.

All devices are managed through the Taxi Butler PORTAL, a web-based platform where taxi companies configure devices, manage their venues, monitor bookings and payments and track performance.

Benefits for taxi fleets

  • Generate more bookings: expand your venue network and capture more trips from hotels, bars, restaurants and other high-demand locations.
  • Automate bookings: every booking placed on a Taxi Butler device flows directly into your dispatch system — no call centre handling, no manual entry.
  • Improve customer loyalty: venues that have a Taxi Butler device book exclusively through your fleet. Once it is in place, they rely on it and rarely switch. The more venues you equip, the more bookings flow automatically into your fleet around the clock.
  • Lock in venue accounts: each device is a permanent booking channel at that location. The device removes friction from the booking process, so venues use it consistently and build strong, long-term loyalty with your fleet.
  • Purpose-built management tools: manage your entire venue network, configure devices and track performance from the Taxi Butler PORTAL.

Benefits for venues

  • Work with your local taxi fleet: get a dedicated booking device from your local taxi company, providing a reliable, direct connection to their fleet.
  • Book taxis in seconds: staff can dispatch a taxi instantly with a single button press — no calls, no waiting on hold.
  • Streamline front-of-house operations: reduce the time staff spend coordinating taxi bookings, freeing them to focus on guests.
  • Provide better guest service: guests receive instant confirmation, real-time ETAs and an arrival alert — a seamless experience from booking to pickup.
  • Always know what is happening: live status updates appear directly on the device, so staff always know when a taxi is on its way.

Taxi Butler’s customers are taxi companies. They sign up and onboard, receive the devices and deploy them at venues in their local area. Venues and their guests use the devices to book taxis whilst taxi companies pay, distribute and maintain the devices.

A taxi company deploys Taxi Butler devices in local venues: reception desks, bars, hospital discharge points, supermarket checkouts, casino floors and more.

When a booking is placed, it goes directly into the taxi company’s dispatch system. The taxi is assigned, the ETA appears on the device, and the trip is completed. On-device contactless payment is available via Taxi Butler PAY.

Some devices support additional steps: choosing a vehicle type, adding a destination, entering passenger details or selecting a payment method.

Taxi Butler integrates with all major dispatch platforms in the industry, including iCabbi, Autocab, Cordic, Smart Move, MTI, Cab9 and many more.

Taxi companies manage everything through the Taxi Butler PORTAL: which devices are live at which venues, booking and payment reporting, device performance metrics, and configuration.

For venue staff and guests, it is simple: tap the button, watch the status update on screen and get in the taxi when it arrives. For venues, a phone call or a walk to the street becomes a single button press. For taxi companies, every device in the network generates bookings automatically, around the clock.

For taxi companies

Device setup, dispatch integrations, the PORTAL and managing your venue network.

All three are taxi booking devices for venue deployment. The differences are in who operates them, how much flexibility they offer and the physical format.

Taxi Butler ONE is a compact, single-button device for venue staff. One press dispatches a taxi immediately. It displays up to 7 active bookings on its small screen, supports two vehicle types and has a built-in 4G SIM. Built for speed and simplicity, it is best for hotel reception desks, bar counters, hospital discharge points and any location where staff handle bookings on behalf of guests.

Taxi Butler PLUS is a 6-inch handheld touchscreen device, staff-operated, with significantly more control. Runs on battery or mains power and connects via 4G SIM or Wi-Fi. Staff can select from an unlimited number of vehicle types, set a pickup time, add passenger details, accept contactless payments with Taxi Butler PAY and manage all active bookings from the screen. After booking, guests receive a QR code to track their taxi in real time. Best for concierge desks, hotel bell stands and venues where a fuller booking experience matters.

Taxi Butler KIOSK is a freestanding self-service unit with a 21.5-inch touchscreen that guests operate themselves. Mains-powered and connecting via 4G SIM, Wi-Fi or Ethernet, it offers the same booking options as the PLUS and integrates with Taxi Butler PAY. Best for airport terminals, hotel lobbies, hospital waiting areas and other high-traffic locations where guests need to book independently.

All three connect to the taxi company’s existing dispatch system and are managed through the Taxi Butler PORTAL.

A good deployment starts before the device arrives. When introducing Taxi Butler to a new venue, speak to the people who care about guest experience: hotel managers, bar or restaurant owners, reception teams, shift supervisors. Show them what is in it for them: taxi bookings become instant and simple, front-desk workload drops and guests leave with a better impression.

At installation, place the device somewhere visible, like a reception desk or bar counter. Confirm it has a stable Wi-Fi connection or good mobile signal via the SIM. Run a test booking before you leave and walk the staff through how to use it.

Check in after installation to make sure the device is being used and staff feel confident. A follow-up call or visit in the first weeks makes a real difference.

Taxi Butler also offers an free online flyer maker where you can create custom branded flyers for venues in minutes.

The Taxi Butler PORTAL is the web-based management platform included with every subscription. Through it, a taxi company can manage all their venue locations, configure and monitor devices remotely, view live and historical booking activity, set booking limits, manage vehicle type options and handle account settings. It is what allows a taxi company to run a Taxi Butler deployment across dozens or hundreds of venues from a single place.

Taxi Butler integrates with dispatch systems used by taxi companies worldwide, including iCabbi, Autocab, Cordic, Smart Move, MTI, Cab9 and many more. To check if your provider is already supported, use the integrations directory.

If your system is not yet listed, it is possible to build the connection using our API. Let us know during the sales process and we will provide the documentation.

When a booking is placed on a Taxi Butler device, it is sent directly into your dispatch system via API. Taxi Butler supports REST connections, and the data format can be configured to match your system’s requirements. From the driver and dispatcher’s perspective, a Taxi Butler booking arrives like any other booking in the system.

Through the Taxi Butler PORTAL, taxi companies can view booking activity across all their venues. For each booking: order time, pickup time, reference number, vehicle type and booking status, including whether a trip was completed, cancelled or failed. For cancelled or failed bookings, the reason is shown. When Taxi Butler PAY is active, payment reports are also included.

The Device ID number, or the C/NO (certification number), is printed on a label on the back of your Taxi Butler device. Can’t find it? Contact our support team for assistance.

Taxi Butler devices support 22 languages and come preloaded with the most common ones. The display language can be set per device through the Taxi Butler PORTAL, so each device can match the local language of the venue it is placed at.

How Taxi Butler works at your property and what to expect for your guests.

Installation is quick. The Taxi Butler ONE takes under 10 minutes; the PLUS and KIOSK take under 20 minutes. The taxi company handles deployment and decides how it is managed. Once the device is in place and connected, it is ready to use.

Yes, on the Taxi Butler PLUS and KIOSK. Staff can set a future pickup time when placing a booking, which is useful for airport transfers, early checkouts or any situation where a guest needs a taxi at a specific time. The Taxi Butler ONE is designed for immediate bookings only.

This depends on the taxi company’s fleet availability and dispatch system. Taxi Butler sends the booking directly to the taxi company’s dispatch system, and the device shows the response on screen in real time. If no driver is available, the device will display that status so staff can inform the guest immediately.

In practice, coverage and response times vary by location. Venues can discuss expected availability with the taxi company that provides their device.

Every Taxi Butler device updates its screen in real time throughout the booking: confirming it, showing the taxi’s ETA and alerting staff when the driver has arrived. Staff can pass this on to the guest at a glance.

On the Taxi Butler PLUS and KIOSK, guests can also track the taxi themselves. A QR code appears on the screen after booking. The guest scans it with their phone and gets a live map showing the driver’s location and ETA.

Language options vary by device type, generally, Taxi Butler devices support 22 languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, Arabic, Dutch, Portuguese, Italian, Japanese and more. The display language is set per device through the Taxi Butler PORTAL, so each device can match the primary language of the venue or the guests it serves.

Yes. Taxi Butler books through the taxi company’s dispatch system, so any service the company offers, including airport transfers, can be made available on the device. On the Taxi Butler PLUS and KIOSK, vehicle types can be configured so guests can choose between a standard taxi and a larger transfer vehicle.

Destinations can also be pre-set on the device and configured by the deploying taxi company.

Booking data is only managed by the taxi company and visible through the Taxi Butler PORTAL.
